Women Making Waves: Meet Four Incredible Gnara Adventurers
At Gnara, we've always known our apparel empowers remarkable women to push boundaries. This Women's History Month, we're celebrating four extraordinary customers who trust our gear for their world-changing adventures. From reality TV survival to groundbreaking science and record-setting voyages, our customers really went there.
Robyn: Wilderness Warrior at 56
When Robyn joined the survival reality show "Extracted," she brought decades of hiking experience and her trusted Gnara Go There Pants. As the oldest female contestant at 56, what might have seemed like a disadvantage became her strength.
"It was LOVE at first squat!" Robyn says about her Gnara pants. With a trail name like "PitStop," functionality matters! Her pants not only kept her protected while gathering materials for fires and moving through wet Canadian wilderness, but they also offered the quick-access feature she needed when nature called.
Robyn maintained her mental strength through daily tai chi and positive self-talk during the competition. Her advice resonates with our own philosophy: "Go do things that challenge you... Get out to do things that make you truly feel alive!"
You can watch Robyn on Fox's first season of Extracted.
Grace: Coast-to-Coast Walking Wonder
Some adventures seem almost impossible...until someone like Grace does them twice. This "Coast-to-Coast Walking Wonder" completed two cross-country journeys: California to South Carolina and then Maine to Florida along the East Coast Greenway.
Grace and her husband pushed a double jogging stroller carrying all their gear, camping supplies, and even their 4lb Yorkie. They built an incredible network of support by asking strangers if they could camp in backyards and gathered over 400 addresses from people willing to help.
What Grace treasures most from her incredible journeys was "all the people that we got to meet... SO many walks of life." Though constantly on the move, she and her husband have "such a huge community all around the United States," a testament to the connections made along the way. You can follow her family's adventures at The Golden Road.
Angelique: Octopus Neuroscientist & Children's Book Author
Not all adventures happen on land. Angelique, a neuroscientist specializing in octopus vision, relies on her Gnara pants while tidepooling and conducting field research that's revolutionizing our understanding of how these incredible creatures perceive their world.
Through experiments with polarization, she maps octopus brain responses and visual processing. This work requires gear that can handle marine environments while providing the comfort needed for long hours of observation.
Angelique is now creating "Dreams of Scientists: Lessons from the Sea," a children's book spotlighting discoveries by underrepresented marine scientists. You can learn more about the project here.

Cole Brauer: Record-Breaking Solo Sailor
When Cole finished 2nd in the 2023-2024 Global Solo Challenge, she made history as the first American woman to sail single-handed around the world nonstop. During her 130-day journey aboard First Light, she relied on gear that could withstand the harshest conditions at sea—including her Gnara pants.
As the only woman and youngest competitor among 16 sailors, Cole overcame significant physical challenges including a rib injury and dehydration, at one point administering her own IV fluids. Through it all, her Gnara pants provided the durability and functionality she needed while setting a new speed record for Class40 boats.
Using Starlink connectivity, Cole built an influential social media presence that introduced sailing to entirely new audiences worldwide.
You can follow Cole's upcoming adventures here.
Breaking Boundaries, Making History
From surviving the harsh Canadian wilderness to walking coast-to-coast twice, from decoding octopus neurology to sailing solo around the globe, these four women exemplify what it means to pursue dreams fearlessly. They've shattered expectations, overcome challenges, and opened doors for others to follow.
Their journeys remind us that exploration has no age limit, no gender barrier, and no predetermined path. Whether through scientific discovery, athletic endurance, or sheer determination, they've each contributed something extraordinary to our collective understanding of what's possible when you dare to venture beyond comfort zones.
This Women's History Month, we celebrate these trailblazers not just for what they've accomplished, but for the countless others they've inspired to chase their own impossible dreams.
